Every Sunday, children sit on the floor because there aren’t enough rooms. Our brilliant youth have to meet off‑site because we simply can’t fit them in.
The church community is growing faster than our building can hold. Not just on Sundays, but during the week too. We want to make sure there is room for all those who come through our doors, today and in the years to come.
On top of the 500 adults and children who come to our services at Christ Church, 25 groups and 500 more use our space each and every week.
Sparklers, our parent and toddler session, is bursting at the seams. Our Golden Years group and Thrive Community Café are at full capacity. These groups offer practical support to people in our community, in seasons where they often struggle and feel isolated.
Fulfilling our Vision
Redeveloping our facilities will bring God’s vision to life and play a huge part in the spiritual and social transformation of Tunbridge Wells, giving us the space we need to:
come together as a church family, to encourage one another in our
journeys with Christsupport our children and youth to be the next generation of leaders
care and provide for those who are in need across Tunbridge Wells
partner with community organisations who work locally, nationally
and internationally
It’s part of our overall Minster Vision.
What’s the plan?
Although remodelling our facilities will add 650 sq of floorspace and address many of the unseen issues with our current building, this is much more than a bigger church.
We’re investing in:
A larger sanctuary and worship space, that will create a 360-seat multi-functional auditorium for local community groups, charities, and schools.
Flexible spaces for our kids, youth, and team, that will allow us to provide safer, more affordable weekday activities for parents and children, after-school homework clubs, and office space.
New commercial kitchen facilities for Sunday hospitality, community cafes, or projects to help those living in food poverty.
An expanded foyer area with step free access, that will serve as a warm, accessible, and welcoming space where those who are isolated will find connection, friendship, and community.

Where are we now and how much will it all cost?
Over the past 8 years, we’ve been busy behind the scenes, listening to our community and prayerfully shaping our plans.
We’ve taken on board feedback from our congregation, the community groups who use our facilities, and local businesses. Full planning permission was granted by Tunbridge Wells Borough Council in June 2026.
Out of a total cost of £5m, we’ve already raised over £1.25m
Equal sacrifice, not equal gift
Whether you’ve been at Christ Church for decades or days, you are part of the Kingdom Building story. And we cannot take this next step without you.
This is a once-in-a-generation moment. Our children and grandchildren will worship in the space we build. What role will you play?
We are asking every member of Christ Church to pray, listen, and give in faith. It’s not about equal gifts, but equal sacrifice, where everyone is contributing to our united vision.
